I met some of the coolest people today during our newborn session. Amazing story to tell but to keep it brief, they are here for only 3 months but work up north in Ulukhaktok (lets say that they put it this way….they are SO far North that the “Northern Lights” are SOUTH!!!). They live in 24-hour-a-day darkness for 3 months of the year. They came down here (where they are originally from) to have their baby, and at the end of January they will return. To hear their story of how they get groceries flown in, and how seals come into their small town of 400 – how they walk everywhere up there…just all the things that we take for granted where we can just walk to the store ANYTIME of day or night to get a bottle of coke…it’s crazy! Amazing really. I mean – what a life story they will have to tell when they move back in a few years time….and to think – they chose me to capture their little princess 🙂 I LOVE MY JOB!!
Camryn’s dad is very interested in photography, and her dad’s dad used to be a photographer…so we were talking about today’s photoshop being the dark room of old style photography and dad mentioned he really likes the OLD looking black and white crackled picture look…so this one’s for you 🙂
Closing in on almost 5 weeks old, I often get a little – maybe ‘panicked’ before these sessions wondering what this baby will look like because I have had very large 5-week-olds who look like they are about 2 months. When that is the case it’s near impossible to get them to curl up or even to sleep – but when she came in all of 7 pounds 4 ounces…I knew we would have no problem getting her to sleep and to curl up…
Last picture, funny little story…every time I pick up a baby to move them to a different prop or position I always think “ohhhh how could I transfer him/her into dads hands so I can capture this”? Well today – dad became the photographer! Lol…
I love being a photographer. I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I love all the babies, all the snuggles and yes – even all the little big messes they make. I just love it!
